When Shelley met Robbie

AUCKLAND

I'd had a hard time dating, never meeting the right man for me. I'd met someone, and was 'trying to make it work'. I decided he wasn't for me and ended it.

HE had contacted me, stating I haven't been on for months, and to come back, which I found rather humorous in the way he'd worded it. Eventually I came back on and saw his emails. I emailed, curious. Typical of dating, sometimes it's all about timing. He'd just met someone. Looks like we're not destined to meet.

His turn to come back after several weeks - it hadn't worked out with her.

There were to be many strange links between us...

It turns out, we work in the same industry. The same profession exactly.

But our similarities were not to end there.

We both have birthdays, three days apart.

He's moving to my suburb in two more months - being in the process of building a house, which in the scheme of things is helpful... Auckland is after all, a big place.

We both lost a parent at 20/21.

We are a year apart only in age - which is great. I have a thing about age, and preferred someone close to mine.

But the biggest freak out which probably knocked both our socks off completely...

We had been working over the fence from each other, for at least two years! And when I say over the fence, I mean exactly that... over the fence from each other. He'd even walked through my workplace during that time, but we hadn't seen each other...

I tell him, the Gods weren't ready. It wasn't our time.

2013 was a terrible year for me.

2014 is my year. He'd tried twice previously to contact me in 2013, but to no avail.

We met once it was 2014.

Our time.

He is my strength. My destiny.

He is the man I've waited for all my life.

A long wait. And worth it. Little steps for now, but steps in time, in the right direction.

Thank you Findsomeone.
